I also had a Norton 99, bright red, twin carbs, it was like trying to ride a pneumatic drill, the vibration was terrible, made more than my teeth chatter, it always leaked oil, the onĺy saving grace it had, was the most comfortable motorcycle seat I've ever sat on. In the end I put it in for a Triumph 650 TR6, which gave me the smoothest, most reliable rides for many years.

Why, oh why do riders just stamp on the gear pedal to engage first gear?. Do you not hear the mechanical distress happening in the gearbox? It can be done much better with care.

Do you know are its cams interchangeable with JD model? Today I remembered that I once had a single-cylinder motor similar to this one, but it was so old and dirty that I couldn't read who produced it, and a burman's gearbox to it. Soon it was stolen from me but I found the cams from jd on the same shelf. I wonder if that motor could have been just like this one😮
